HELLO!!!

I hope i dont sound full of greed or anything but I read this article about Careers dealing with plastic surgery and I think it ranges from 153,000 to 410,000 annually and I was wondering if someone wanted to be a plastic surgeon then would the best place to live and practice be California since thats where all the best plastic surgeons are? Would your salary automatically go up? 😛 😛 😛 😛

The salary information you have appears to have come from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Faculty Salary Survey, 2002. There is some information here: http://www.aamc.org/students/cim/pub_plasticsurgery.htm

There is a lot more to deciding where to practice than the salary you'd get. Additionally, if there are already a lot of excellent plastic surgeons around, it would be tough to develop your own practice. In order to get clients, you may even have to charge less to get the business. I'm not that familiar with plastic surgery, though, so I'm not exactly sure how they do things, or how they set prices for their services.

According to Salary.com, for general surgeons (not specifically plastic surgeons):

Los Angeles, CA
$204,293 (25th percentile)
$248,004 (50th percentile)
$306,277 (75th percentile)

Chicago, IL
$197,236 (25th percentile)
$239,437 (50th percentile)
$295,697 (75th percentile)

New York, NY
$211,712 (25th percentile)
$257,010 (50th percentile)
$317,400 (75th percentile)

Birmingham, AL
$175,160 (25th percentile)
$212,637 (50th percentile)
$262,601 (75th percentile)
