i was just wondering if takling an EMT course and obtaining an EMT license would be a good idea for med-school, like would it help me out if my m-cat scores arent too good or i havent done much research or volunteering, if i could get some feedback i would really appreciate it thanks alot
Overall, I doubt it will have that much of an effect. It might make up for not having done much research or volunteering, as those probably are minor things as well. My own sense is there really is no way to replace good grades and good mcat scores.
EMT training is nice when you find yourself in clinical environments, because you hopefully know a bit about what you are doing, and it looks good as an add-on to your application package... but don't count on that alone to get you into medical school. I basically feel that EMT training (and especially EMT experience) is an excellent ancillary activity to your studies. We have about 4 or 5 EMTs in my medical school class of ~120.
Good luck! 😉
