Is it preferd that i become a biology major over what my school calls a "health science" major... also by not taking calc. do i reduce my chances of getting a good score on the MCAT.... and therefore getting into med school?

In the big picture, your major doesn't matter too much - I'd major in whatever field interests you the most, and just make sure you take all of the required classes. It seems that most medical schools do recommend calculus, but I'm not sure how many require it. As for the MCAT, I doubt that there is anything that you would need calculus for - as long as you know the physics stuff.
