I am a junior psychology major at Paine college and I am really interested in Psychiatry is it possible for me to still actually become a psychiatrist?
It is never too late if that's what you want to do. It does not matter what you major in during college, as long as you take the required pre-med classes. 1 year chemistry, 1 year biology, 1 year organic chemistry, 1 year physics. And you need to take the MCAT, and get good enough grades and scores to get accepted to med school.
Once you have completed med school (4 years), you'd have to do a 4 year residency in psychiatry.
It's still definitely possible for you, if that's what you are set on doing. You might need to take some summer school, or even take an extra year of college to complete all the pre-med classes, but I've known plenty of people who have decided late in college (or even while they were in another career) who went to med school.
Good luck!
