I'm not sure what information you are basing these statements on, but from one source (National Institute of Health) they state that doses are usually not more than 100mg / day:

I also think it is important to know what the recommended dose is for - for example, I have seen very high doses of IV haldol used effectively in delirium, but I have not seen the same for schizophrenia.
