My son is starting his senior year in high school. He has a very good chance of getting a full ride scholarship to a state school. When applying to med school do they care where the applicant went?
psych2018,
The particular undergraduate school may make a difference when applying to the very top tier medical schools, but a bigger factor is undergraduate grades and test scores for most medical schools. If the state school is a respectable school, and your son gets good grades there in pre-med classes and has good MCAT scores, having gone to a state school shouldn't hold him back when applying to medical school. Going on a full scholarship also can be seen as a very positive thing when applying to medical school.
