Hi,
I was wondering if taking a 100level or freshmen level class in your senior year of undergraduate study would be looked down upon by med schools who might rather want a more rigorous schedule towards the end of undergraduate study. Is this true? Also, how many hours of volunteering do you think it would be acceptable for most medical schools? Thanks.
Medical schools probably don't care what classes you take your senior year - as long as you've met your pre-med requirements. In fact, many interesting classes outside of your major are probably 100 level classes.
As for number of hours of volunteer work - it probably doesn't matter. I had listed that I had volunteered at the local hospital, but I don't think I was once asked how many hours. Volunteering is not required - it is just an additional thing to have on your application (aside from your own personal interest in volunteering).
